Find out addresses for an exception

Hello,

I would like to use the “Unified hosts + gambling + porn + social” list.

But i would like to add an exception: “www.reddit.com”

I have removed the entry, but the website is not working correctly. (>Flushing the DNS cache did not help)
How can I find out which additional entries I need to delete for the website to function correctly?

Is it possible that a website will not work if a specific address is also blocked ?
There are around 40 entries in the hosts file that end with “reddit.com”.

Examples:
ads.reddit.com
en.reddit.com
w3-reporting-csp.reddit.com
etc.

You could navigate the website and look at everything that is being blocked through the "Network" section of the DevTools Console of your favorite browser.

Definitely. That's why it is good to look at the "Network" section of the DevTools Console of your favorite browser. Typically everything that has been blocked is listed or highlighted in red.

Otherwise:

You could add each domains in a whitelist file (cf: --whitelist parameter of updateHostsFile.py) and generate a new file.

Unfortunately, the whitelist mechanism of the updateHostsFile.py script doesn't have a mechanism for wildcard (cf: *.reddit.com).
You could use tivilsta or ultimate-hosts-blacklist-whitelist for such "extras". (disclamer: I'm the author of both.)
