There are a few build-time-only packages that are necessary to build .NET Core from source without prebuilts. We (source-build upstream maintainers) currently think these are reasonable names:

These packages are not used by the .NET Core product.

Distro maintainers may name these whatever they want, but it's useful to recommend something to avoid meaningless differences in how the .NET Core build works between different distros.

See dotnet/source-build#1456 for a discussion about these packages. We may need to close on some more details (such as recommended directories and a document to explain what they're actually used for) before they can be properly documented.
