The same thing happens whether I'm trying to read or add, and happens if I remove the collection and just try reading or setting a doc() - with the error changing to .doc is not a function.
I took a look through node_modules/@react-native-firebase/firestore and don't see any references to 'collection' which seems odd.
When I go to https://github.com/invertase/react-native-firebase/tree/master/packages/firestore I can see a bunch of JS files inside /lib that aren't in the package I installed like FirestoreCollectionReference.js which seems like it might be what I'm missing. I tried adding a bunch of these missing files manually which didn't work, same error.
So for now I don't seem to be able to get firestore to do anything at all, except import successfully.

@spasecadet please change all your @react-native-firebase/* packages to version ^0.4.0 - we moved the v6 alphas to <1.0.0 patch & minor releases so we could partially gate any breaking changes between the alpha behind versions (wasn't so flexible when using tags)
Issue
I have added Firestore to my app but when I try to read or add a collection or doc I get an error.
results in an error:
