Node.js Version: 10.12.0
OS: MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

I'm confused by this behavior in the repl. Why the syntax error? Didn't the assignment fail?

This seems confusing, but according to spec.
See nodejs/node#22476, nodejs/node#22707, nodejs/node#23052, etc.
