The Spring Framework codebase still contains many classes and methods which have been deprecated before 3.2, in particular from the 3.1 timeframe. As of Spring Framework 4.2, more than three years after the introduction of those deprecation markers, we should consistently remove those artifacts, except for old extension points with ongoing use in third-party libraries.
