Explanation for sudden failure after updating to the latest Next.js version, see hand-dot/react-inspector#9 for context

TL;DR:
The breaking change stems from React's removal of _debugSource metadata in:

  • React 19 (PR #28265)
  • Specific React 18.3.0-canary-* bundles included in Next.js ≥14.1.1-canary.45
