Fixes #3247

  • adds missing examples and syntax in various using directives' reference docs
  • fixes inconsistent formatting in directives' definitions
  • cleans the mess up a lil' bit here and there

Special thanks to @scarf005 and @yadavan88 for reminding me this needs to be cleaned up.
