Proposal for the Activate Live Preview block replacement

• We are getting more and more complaints about the Activate Live Preview block (WordPress Playground block) not working. There is a problem with that block, and we can't do anything about it. But we can replace that block with the direct link to the WordPress playground instance with the blueprint that is used in the specific lesson, like we did here https://learn.wordpress.org/lesson/choosing-and-installing-a-theme/. Should we replace the WordPress playground block all over the learn site in the same manner? It can be time-consuming, but on the other hand, I don't see that the plugin/block authors will fix the issue any time soon (I've created an issue on their repo "Activate Live Preview" not working playground-tools#380)

What are your thoughts on this proposal?

Proposal to reschedule Coffee Hour sessions to biweekly or monthly

• Since the summer vacation season has started, not many people are able to join our Coffee Hour sessions (every Saturday at 13:00 UTC), maybe we should arrange it in a more relaxed schedule, biweekly or monthly.

What are your thoughts on this proposal?

• We need Table Lead and Team representatives for the WordCamp US 2025 Contributor Day. If anyone is interested, please read this article - https://make.wordpress.org/training/2025/07/12/brainstorm-table-lead-wordcamp-us-2025-contributor-day/
• We’ve made significant progress on the thumbnail generator project, with most thumbnails successfully updated. However, a few content thumbnails still use outdated designs or don’t comply with our thumbnail generator guidelines. If you’re interested in volunteering for this task, simply leave a comment, and we’ll provide the necessary instructions to get started.
• We need to update all the handbook and course/lesson content. For starters, we need to find and label all outdated content and create a list of all broken links.

Title: Proposal: Improve Language Filter and Multilingual Course Management on Learn WordPress

Description:

Hi team,

While working on the Korean translations for Learn WordPress, I noticed some inconsistencies and possible improvements regarding language filtering and multilingual content management. I’d like to propose a few ideas and hear your feedback.

Current Situation

• learn.wordpress.org/lessons/ has a language filter in the content directory.
• learn.wordpress.org/courses/ does not have a language filter in the directory, only a Change language option in the top bar.
• The relationship between site language setting and content language setting seems not fully systematized yet.
• On profiles.wordpress.org/kimjiwoon/#content-courses, it doesn't appear possible to treat multilingual versions of a course as the same course for activity tracking. If attempted, it might cause duplicated completion records for each language version.

Proposal

• Instead of treating different language versions of a course as the same course, it may be better to manage them separately.
• It would be helpful to have a dropdown menu on each course page linking to available translations only if necessary.
  However, realistically, users switching from English to another language happens, but switching from Korean to French or German for the same course is highly unlikely.
  Therefore, unless there’s a strong technical or UX reason to group these multilingual courses together, keeping them separate with language-specific discovery makes more sense.

Summary

• Clarify the strategy for multilingual course management in Learn.
• Consider adding or removing the course-level language switcher based on actual usage cases.
• Avoid linking multilingual courses unless they are truly the same course with synchronized updates.

Optional Improvement

If we need to implement additional multilingual navigation features in the future, we can consider adopting a model similar to Wikipedia’s interlanguage links on each content page.
Even just having an “Edit interlanguage links” block would be sufficient for now, since the “Translate this page” functionality is already being tracked via GitHub issues.

이렇게 덧붙이면, 지금 시점에서는 딱히 course-level language switcher를 반드시 구현할 필요는 없고, 위키피디아식 콘텐츠별 언어선택 링크 정도만 있으면 충분하며, 그나마도 translate this page가 따로 이슈 트래킹 되고 있다는 것도 언급해줘서 팀이 과하게 걱정하지 않게 정리 가능해.
