Releases: builtbybel/CrapFixer
CrapFixer 1.18.200
CrapFixer now includes its own small, modern "Policy Editor" meet NAppClean.exe
If you're an admin or just prefer a more structured way to apply your tweaks, you can optionally use this tool. Itβs basically the same app under the hood, just packaged a bit differently β a kind of policy-style frontend for CrapFixer.
You can also download NAppClean as a standalone tool from the project page:
π https://github.com/builtbybel/NAppClean
CrapFixer just got a little more powerful, so whether you're a casual user, a tinkerer, a gamer, a nerd, or an admin...I got you covered π
NAppClean.exe is already included in the CrapFixer archive.

CrapFixer 1.17.177
- General improvements for Windows 11 Build 26100.4484
- Added feature: System > Disable Hibernation
Disables hibernation to save disk space and remove hiberfil.sys. Recommended for desktop systems - Improved feature: Privacy > Disable Activity History
The option to send activity history to Microsoft was deprecated in Windows 11 22H2 and 23H2
(Update KB5034204, January 23, 2024).
Although the GUI option was removed, the feature can still be controlled via registry or group policy.
Some users report activity data still being collected or shown. The tweak now also manages the

Refined tweak to improve system responsiveness - Subtle UI fixes and optimizations

CrapFixer 1.16.156
- You can now analyze, fix, and restore operations recursively from any parent node in the feature tree. All checked child features will be included automatically.
- The preview feature has been merged into the analyze function. It's now simpler and shows directly what would be applied during analysis.
- The app startup process has been significantly reworked for improved performance and stability
- The UI has been subtly refreshed: updated accent colors in the navigation, a cleaner header, and a more organized layout. A small GitHub Octocat icon is now displayed in the top-right corner
- Vivetool integration under Tools > Features has been further optimized
- Minor bug fixes and improvements
CrapFixer 1.15.137
I've been getting tons of questions about my older apps like TidyOS and xd-AntiSpy, especially if theyβre still being developed. Iβve mentioned it in a few other releases, but I want to make it crystal clear here: Iβm not planning any more updates for those apps for now.
Originally, I thought TidyOS would be my last Windows 11 tweaking app. Funny enough, it turned out to be CrapFixer by chance.
Heres what's new in CrapFixer 1.15
- Last release, I introduced a new tool, basically a UI for the command-line ViveTool. Now its been beefed up to unlock custom IDs too. Just enter the ID in the textbox and hit βApply Custom ID.β Yes activates it, No deactivates it
For now, I'll focus on maintaining only current and popular features. But a custom import function is definitely on the roadmap. - Internal web links used to always open in Edge, which sucked if you'd uninstalled it. Now, the app respects your default browser instead #70
- Improved the Tools section UI
- Fixed some minor bugs here and there
Quick question for you all:
What features do you want to see most in CrapFixer?
CrapFixer 1.14.126
The names kinda crap... but hey, Windows 11s got some slick new features, and I've started working on a fresh tool/plugin for the CrapFixer. Think of it as a super simple, user-friendly GUI for ViveTool by Albacore that lets you toggle the latest features with ease.
For now, I've only added two feature IDs as a test, but this is basically the vibe and where it's headed. You can try out the new tool/plugin in this version and drop me some feedback.
Heads up: you'll need to download ViveTool first. Then, the entire ViveTool folder has to be extracted into the CrapFixer plugin directory. I think for a tool like CrapFixer, it makes perfect sense to include something that activates cool new Windows 11 features. After all, CrapFixer is all about toggling on and off those cool (and not-so-cool) features π

CrapFixer 1.12.92
- Subtly polished UI with more contrast, depth, and a touch of retro charm
- Icon support added! While the interface may look a bit bare on first launch, you'll find an option under Options > Settings to download navigation icons. (These are classic XP-style icons β if anyone wants to contribute slightly modernized versions, feel free to drop a comment!) Other icon sets can be found in the assets folder here
- Finalized and optimized DPI scaling, especially for the feature tree view: #1
- Improved update check mechanism
- Fixed various small display glitches
- The log/console window now supports multiple fonts; ideal for mixing terminal fonts like Cascadia Mono or Consolas (for winget updates) with standard fonts like Tahoma for the rest
- Tons of small tweaks and optimizations under the hood

CrapFixer 1.11.71
I've been working a bit more on the retro version. Itβs basically the original UI I started with back in the day, looking a lot like the old Crap Cleaner style. I also tweaked the scaling.
I'm dropping both versions here so we can decide together whether to move forward with the Light/Classic look or the slightly updated darker/modern one. Honestly, I can't decide, but Iβm leaning towards the Classic version.
Drop your vote in the comments: Modern (1) or Classic (2)
Youβll also find some optional icon packs in the assets, feel free to download them and drop them into the same folder as the EXE.

CrapFixer 1.10.58
A fresh version with retro roots, from one nerd to the rest π
CrapFixer is still in its early days, at least publicly. Ive been using and improving it privately for a long time, but only recently shared it with the world. With this release, Im simplifying the versioning. The previous version was 1.6.300 (though it was really just meant to be 1.06, but version numbers in C# dont support leading zeros, so it turned into 1.6π
), but lets be honest, that made it look like some enterprise-grade app on its 300th build. Its not. Its a one-man project built out of passion
Thats why Ive decided to reset the build number to something that better reflects reality: this release is 1.10.58
Crap Fixer starts here, just like Crap Cleaner did 20 years ago: fast, lightweight, no-fluff, and focused purely on cleaning up the crap Windows leaves behind.
No telemetry. No dark patterns. No unnecessary features. Just clean.
Thanks to everyone for the 100,000+ downloads and over 700 GitHub stars. Lets keep the spirit of old-school system tools alive. π₯οΈπ§½
CrapFixer v1.10.58 (May 2025)
- New Plugins Gallery view with columns for name, install status, and plugin type (remember the new NX plugins from last release)
- Added full Windows version and build display
- Removed some duplicated features; now available optionally as plugins
- Improved app/bloatware detection and search
- Minor UI fixes and polish
You'll also find the retro version I used back in the day in the assets. I gave the current version that same nostalgic skin from back then. Be honest, which look do you prefer today?

CrapFixer 1.6
β οΈ NOTE: Due to the small change in the app name from Crapfixer to CrapFixer, the URL for the update page on GitHub Pages has also changed.
Older versions will currently get a 404 error. Anyone got skills with GitHub Pages and knows how to temporarily fix this? π€―π΅βπ«
Time for another juicy update, this time supercharging the plugin engine...
- The plugin engine has been supercharged with extended capabilities, including "native eXecution" (NX) plugins that allow direct Reg scripting and more inside PowerShell. NX plugins are clearly marked with the (NX) tag in their names. To showcase the new engine, I've added a demo plugin here. I've bundled a few ready-to-go plugins some inspired by the Neowin guide here You'll find all plugins in the usual spot: Options > Plugins > Plugins Gallery
- With more plugins rolling in, the Gallery now has a search function to help you find what you need faster
- The app launch process has been optimized so the UI now loads instantly, while features and plugins load in the background, giving us a smoother, snappier experience right from the start
- CrapFixer now remembers its last position on the desktop (window coordinates included)
