With the query API refactoring in https://github.com/cortexproject/cortex/pull/6763, a regression was introduced in query that the query response compression was removed. It was fixed in https://github.com/cortexproject/cortex/pull/6844. An integration test should be used to capture the behavior of query response compression to capture this problem earlier.
