I upgraded my projects to v2.5.0, and now CI is failing on my .NET Framework 4.7.1 tests (they still pass under .net Core 2.1).

Could not load file or assembly 'System.Runtime.Extensions, Version=4.2.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies.

Going to have to downgrade for now.

I updated the core library to use netcoreapp2.0 instead of netstandard because I needed to add support for a particular area. That's probably the problem

Facing same error here. Workaround it by downgrade to 2.4.0.

I think it's not a good idea to switch to netcoreapp2.0, since it is hard to be compatible with netfx. If you insist to do so, maybe you can try use TargetFrameworks and set it to netcoreapp2.0;net461, then fix build errors - At least it can cover netcoreapp and netfx.

Instead, I tried switch back to netstandard2.0, and seems the only missing pieces are System.Reflection.PortableExecutable and Path.GetRelativePath(string, string). The first issue can be resolved by add package System.Reflection.Metadata, then PEReader and DebugDirectoryEntryType should be available. As for the relative path issue, maybe there're some workarounds.

And there's another option - Make this project a SDK project, but it's a breaking change and might cause more problems.
