Summary of Changes
Hello @sigurdm, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request enhances the pubspec_parse package by introducing support for tag_pattern
and version constraints within Git dependencies. This allows for more flexible and precise dependency resolution when using Git repositories.
Highlights
- Git Dependency Enhancements: The GitDependency class now includes tagPattern and version properties, enabling more advanced versioning for Git-based dependencies.
- Robust JSON Parsing: The GitDependency.fromJson factory has been refactored to explicitly parse and validate tag_pattern and version fields, along with improved error messages for invalid input.
- Test Coverage: A new test case has been added to ensure correct parsing and handling of tag_pattern and version for Git dependencies.

Code Review
This pull request introduces support for tag_pattern
and version
constraints for git dependencies, which is a valuable addition. The implementation correctly handles the structure of these dependencies in pubspec.yaml
by using a custom fromJson
factory. I've identified a minor bug in error handling, an opportunity to make version parsing stricter, and an outdated test case that needs updating. Overall, the changes are well-implemented and the new tests are appreciated.

Perhaps add a line comment here explaining why we don't use json serializable here - that's it's deliberate (in order to have custom parsing in fromJson).

I note that PathDependency - which also isn't generated via JsonSerializable - uses fromData
instead of fromJson
. Perhaps also appropriate for GitDependency?

Hmm Yeah - the difference is that fromData
takes the descriptor only and throws away any version constraint (at least that was my interpretation).
For tag_pattern git dependencies, you need the version constraint to make any sense of it all.
Can you edit the first comment on this PR with some detail about how the code is changing? We can use that as the commit message when we merge. |
Starts handling version constraint for git dependencies.
