Windows are not tiled correctly when one of the branches dissappears

In the 1st case, the windows correctly switch orientation. In the second case, they remain their original size, even though they should switch.

I'd like to take a stab at this. To clarify, is the issue that the tiles are extended vertically side-by-side (as shown below) as opposed to top-and-bottom?

@octos4murai that's correct. Pop-os should adjust correctly by using the most intuitive layout, which does not happen in this case.
