Convert PDF to grayscale?

Documentation shows Page.recolor(components=1) would work but this method doesn't seem to exist in v1.25.5? Am I missing it?
I can redraw all of the drawings/text in a new page and override the color that way but it is very slow for large pdfs versus copying the source page in original color via show_pdf_page.
