Recently there is a method flatten() implemented, and already added to the docs file, it has been a month and still not shown in the latest documentation. Just quickly to make sure if it is an expected case (e.g. documentation has longer cycle to synchronize)

No tests are affected by this removal.

Closes pytorch#1885 and closes pytorch#9817

While I was at it, I also fixed pytorch#9876 .
