FWIW, 2h 35m is not so terrible and I wouldn't mind landing that, we definitely have slower runners now.

x64 is still way more popular than aarch64, so having distcheck coverage for that seems a bit more important. But I don't mind that much, just wanted to see if a free runner is also a viable alternative here.
